The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum at Pearl Harbor preserves and exhibits one of only 15 World War II submarines still in existence, and tells the story of the ‘Silent Service’ from its earliest days to the present. The Museum has expanded to convey a richer story through 13,000 square feet of enlarged galleries, a redeveloped site and exterior exhibits.
Three major galleries lead visitors through the harrowing submarine patrols of World War II, the technological innovations and shadowy strategies of nuclear subs through the Cold War, to the men, women and immensely powerful boats of today’s Silent Service.
Through each of these, interactive tech stations explore the constantly evolving technologies of submarine warfare, while media exhibits convey what life is actually like on extended and secretive missions beneath the world’s oceans, through the voices of past and present submariners.
